Beginner's Course 2017 - April 3rd
Every year the Stainland Lions Running Club organise a Beginners Course in order to encourage running. The course is very popular with 25+ people joining us in 2016. This year we are changing the course slightly by reducing the numbers at the event, having a greater emphasis on people who haven't run before or those who can run a mile or two. By doing this we can reduce the group sizes enabling us to give greater levels of support and encouragement to all the participants.
Beginners this year will be novices who wish, over an eight week period to learn how to run and be able to run 5 to 6 miles in May. For those who can already run close to or more than 5 miles we openly welcome you to join us for one of our club runs from Heath RUFC on a Thursday evening throughout the year not just around the time of the Beginners Course.
We therefore invite non-runners or joggers to come along to the 2017 Beginners Course to improve your fitness, your running abilities and make new friends. The majority of the training runs will take place on hard tarmac or along the canals but as the week's progress you will be introduced to hillier routes and off-road routes. There will also be a track training night (this will be on a Wednesday evening at Spring Hall Athletics Track) and an Away Run (this will be on a Thursday evening from an alternative venue). The 8 week course will finish with a fun run and social evening on the final Monday night.
